When the lights go out where do all the homeless people go?

Have you ever wondered what happens to all the people that you see sitting on benches along the sidewalk  or in coffee shops or parks at night when the majority of people go home to their warm houses and beds? What about all those people you see living in their cardboard houses along the river or under a bridge or the tent and camper dwellers? Do you ever wonder if they are warm at night?

These questions haunt me at times. I have seen way too many people just trying to find a warm place to sit in the daytime or to sleep at night. You see, I have lived on those streets and in a tent and under a bridge or down by the river over the years in many parts of this nation. My husband Cephas and I have lived in vehicles for many years as well. It is not an easy life but one that we chose to walk in answer to a calling to give up our lives and serve God. So we find ourselves living the experiences that Jesus wanted us to learn to understand.

You know though, we really can't complain much about it because we are very blessed. Through our experiences, our eyes, our ears, our minds but most importantly - OUR HEARTS - have been opened. We truly understand the meaning of compassion, the purest kind of love. Compassion has been bestowed upon us in bounty and we have shown it to many others over this past seventeen years of our ministry.

Most of our family and friends think we are just crazy people who do nothing except wander aimlessly around the country with nothing to show for those years. How wrong they are about that! The stories we can share are endless. And that is what we are setting out to do. In fact, we want to produce a series of short lifetime films to help inspire and move others to show compassion for strangers.

We have begun the process of writing those stories and by the grace of God, we will be led to the persons who will help make this vision be actualized.  Right now, we live in an old travel trailer in the yard of a friend who operates Rainbow Crystal Kitchen Ministries. His name is Gary and he has true compassion for others. He takes folks in and feeds them, gives them a place to stay until they get on their feet. We are thankful to Gary that he had room for us because our car broke down in Mount Shasta and was impounded by the police department. We don't have the funds to get it back so we are without a vehicle. But we have internet service here and I can surely write those stories.

Now you know the purpose behind our future plans. While you wait for glimpses of these stories and future films, check out our other blog. Acts of Good Samaritans.

Thanks for reading this and think about all those people out there some where who don't have a warm place to go. Please keep them in your prayers. And if you see some of these folks, please utter a blessing for them and share some hot tea or coffee, some warm food and an extra warm blanket if you can spare it. Trust me, it will make a difference.

Love is powerful. It will heal nations if they embrace pure love.
God Bless each one of you.

As I Eat my Dinner I wonder how many people go to sleep hungry

For many years, I have been very conscious about poverty, homelessness, and hunger. I was raised in a poverty stricken area. Folks all around me were poor and struggling. There were farmers, merchants, small business folks and just people who worked hard to make ends meet. Food was not taken for granted, ever! My parents were the type that reminded us there were starving children in Ethiopa.

The State of our Nation's People is in Distress

America is an ever growing nation whose societal structure cannot support its people economically with the current system. Great changes are essential but they cannot be achieved overnight or without much sacrifice from the general public. We, as a people, a society, a culture and a nation must take responsibility for the current condtion of our nations people. Homelessness is rampant with no end in sight.
